Association Growth and
Income Builders founder and principal, John B. Cox, CAE, has an unbroken
track record of success in achieving organizational goals and potential.
For more than two decades, as CEO and in senior staff executive positions,
he worked with seven national and international associations and
societies, helping to design and implement high-yield plans that maximized
organizational program and project objectives.
In one organization-wide tactical plan alone, 48 new programs,
products benefits, and services were introduced in a 36 month period.
Additionally, he has consulted to, peer
reviewed, facilitated meetings in and advised dozens of other member
organizations, both nationally and internationally.
His tactical planning helped create and launch the world’s first
peer-reviewed, all-electronic journal in a key scientific area.
His writings are used in recommended study
for Certified Association Executive (CAE) programs, and he has conducted
more than two dozen workshops and seminars for leading membership
organizations, including the American Society of Association Executive
(ASAE). He has served on the CAE Commission and twice on ASAE’s Board of
Directors, as well as on numerous other member-organization boards.
In a professional development tactical plan, he more than doubled
workshop income for an association, from $250,000. in one fiscal year to
$550,000. in the next.
He helped create, and acted as executive
editor and contributing author in Professional Practices in Association
Management, both editions. It is recommended reading for the CAE
examination, and further used as a text book in colleges and
universities.
In a pioneering tactical plan, he helped introduce association
online continuing education. Now commonplace, it was the first program of
its kind in the association field.
Mr. Cox helped found and served as first
Editorial Board Chair for the learned Journal of Association Leadership,
published by the Center for Association Leadership.
A publishing tactical plan facilitated by Mr. Cox achieved a 400%
increase in book sales in a five year period. Another publishing plan
tripled advertising revenues in a three-year window, and achieved 167% of
budgeted revenues during a recession. It further increased the
publication’s net revenue 30% in one year.
Recognitions include ASAE’s Summit Award
and Award of Excellence, as well as two separate Associations Advance
America awards; the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives
Innovative Technology Award and Member Of the Year Award; Mr. Cox was
named “Association Executive of the Year” by Association Trends in
2001; and, he is a Fellow in the American Society of Association
Executives.
A tactical plan he designed to improve annual meeting participation
and performance doubled attendance in four years.
